Built on a rocky outcrop of the Luberon, between Oppède to the west and Lacoste to the east, Ménerbes is holder of a distinction bestowed by the 'association Les plus beaux villages de France. Ménerbes bears witness to a rich artistic heritage. Nicolas de Staël, Dora Maar & Picasso, and Joe Downing chose to live here.

The village achieved world-wide fame thanks to Peter Mayle’s A Year in Provence and its follow-up, Toujours Provence.
The Truffle and Wine Centre is on the town hall square, while the unique Corkscrew Museum is situated in the vineyards at the foot of the village.
